Chill Skills Classes.
Chills Skills is a meditation course for children aged between 9-13 yrs old. These classes incorporate a variety of relaxation techniques and meditation styles to help children learn how to meditate and uses these valuable tools and techniques to help them when they need it most.
Older teens can be accommodated on request via 1-2-1 classes or a group class, please email to register your interest.
Being a tween/teen be very challenging with a lot of demands from different area’s of life. Friends, school, peer pressure, social media even family dynamics can be a source of worry.
Chill skills is a space children can come to learn how to relax and develop important skills to help them negotiate these unchartered territories in a safe and understanding place.
It is not therapy, we do not get into each individuals stories but have small discussions around the themes and topics of the classes. Children can share to their comfort level and often find a lot of comfort and reassurance in shared experiences and having the opportunity to offer their unique perspective on the topic.
This is a more focused, discussion based class than the Relaxed Kids class which covers a different theme each week, they learn about brain science and how their brain works under stress and take home valuable tips and mindfulness techniques that help them be calm and more confident.
Each week they receive a journal to help them reflect on their experiences and write daily gratitudes. This class is suited for all children aged between 9-13 who would like to know more about meditation, maybe they are experiencing some challenges in life right now or maybe they would like some guidance in transitioning from primary to secondary school.
I aim to convey all the topics in a fun, friendly and accommodating way always adapting and changing classes based of the groups and the individuals needs.
Each participant will receive a journal and a weekly work sheet with a variety of activities to help them continue their personal work.
These will include mood diaries, goal sheets, vision planning, affirmations and exercises to practice at home.

In Chill Skills we learn many different ways of tuning into our inner wisdom and learn to listen to ourselves and respect ourselves with understanding and acceptance.

Classes include the following activities,
Drama based activities help develop the children’s self confidence through
expressive play and imagination based games. Interactive and fun these games
also help with social interaction, communication, focus and concentration.
SOOTHING peer massage
Self or clothed peer massage (on the back). Calming and relaxing, positive touch
boosts the immune system, calms the nervous system, helps the production of oxytocin and endorphins, and lowers
Yoga inspired stretches help increase flexibility and movement in the body
whilst also calming and releasing physical tension. These exercises also have a direct effect on the emotions and children will be given examples when they can use the stretches to help themselves.
Delivered through engaging games and group exercises, positive thinking and affirmations are powerful coping tools and help foster resilience. Learning to view themselves and life in a positive way is a great tool for life and thinking and
speaking positively releases endorphins in the brain that make you feel great,
increase happiness and optimism.
Mindfulness based breathing exercises help to still and calm the mind. Deep breathing helps calm the nervous system, balance the left and right side of the brain and aids in concentration and focus. Children learn how to use the different breathing techniques to calm and self regulate.
CREATIVE visualisations, mindfulness and meditations
Deep body relaxations, mindfulness meditations, guided imagery and visualisations help release physical and mental tension, lower blood pressure, calm the nervous system, increase emotional and body awareness and give children the tools to relieve stress and anxiety. Whilst at the same time expanding the child’s imagination and creativity. Done regularly, these exercises can help promote deeper sleep and a more relaxed attitude to daily challenges.
